Stop Being Self Conscious

Discover how to stop being self conscious. Self Consciousness is a serious problem – not only does it undermine your confidence and makes you feel awkward, but it also sabotages your performance. Whatever you do, if you feel self conscious while you are doing it, you’re not doing it at your best.

There have been studies that showed that high achievers are never self conscious while being in their field of excellence. Why? Because in order to do something really good – be it learning, socializing, talking, playing music or sports – you need mental focus, you need to concentrate. You need to be single minded during your performance. But being self conscious takes away from that focus – it’s a distraction that’s costing you. Instead of focusing on what needs to get done, you focus on yourself, and you start to feel nervous and anxious.

The good news is – if you are often self conscious, you can become so much better at the things where you feel self conscious.

The bad news is – it’s not that easy to stop being self conscious. But that’s probably not news to you. You probably already have tried to get over it, but the problem persists.

However, that does not mean that you have to learn to live with it, or that you have to accept it as part of your life. You don’t.

You just need to find something that works for you, something that helps you to get over it.

One thing that helps many people is to practice any given task beforehand – both mentally and then actually physically. For example, if you need to give a speech, then prepare yourself first. Know what you want to say, and how you want to say it. Get the words down. And then picture yourself speaking these words. Imagine how you are standing on front of the crowd and talk, and how they listen to you. After you have rehearsed this a couple of times mentally, actually stand up and give the speech in front of an imagined audience. The more often you do this, the less self conscious you will be when actually giving the speech.

However, there are many situations in life where you can not really prepare this way. So what can you do in those cases?

Well, this is where you have to get to the core of the problem itself. You have to stop being self conscious. And since this is not something that you can control with your conscious, rational, thinking mind, you need the help of your subconscious mind.

Essentially, when you are overly conscious of yourself, you misuse your own imagination – and your imagination is a powerful thing. Albert Einstein used to say that “imagination is more important than knowledge”. They imagine what other people think of them – while most other people are often way too occupied with thinking about themselves.

With the help of hypnosis, you can tell your subconscious mind to stop being self conscious, and start feeling confident, and focus instead on what really matters.
